In 2016, I entered my first ever event at the age of 62 years old. The event was the Great North Run and I decided to run it in memory of Elaine Jabbar, whose life was cut short by cancer. On the morning of the run the first message of support I received was from a lady called Margaret. Margaret was the mother of a very close friend of mine. At the time I never would have thought just how meaningful that messaged meant, as within 12 months, Margaret had been diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away.

We all have a story about a family member, colleague or friend who has been affected by this disease so this is why I wanted to join explore2cure and give something back.
